Aroon has one parameter: Period — the lookback window for detecting highest highs and lowest lows.

Aroon Period

What It Controls: Lookback window for detecting the most recent high and low.

Default: 14 bars

How It Works:

• Lower values (5–10): Detects short-term trend changes, more signals
• Standard values (11–20): Balanced detection
• Higher values (21–50): Only detects major trend shifts

What Happens at Extremes

Period = 5

• Very sensitive to minor new highs/lows
• Good for scalping trend shifts

Period = 25

• Only reacts to significant price extremes
• Fewer but higher-quality signals
